We Made It Through Hurricane Irene!

Since I live south of Boston, we were some of the millions of people affected by hurricane Irene, but luckily we weren’t affected too badly.
While most of my town is still without power, schools were postponed until Sept 5th (the kids were supposed to go back today) we never lost power more than for a few seconds. And we only had branches and leaves fall in our yard, whereas many people around us, including a neighbor 5 houses down the street and my grandmother a couple miles away, had trees fall in their yard. Still luckier, I don’t know of anything that had any significant damage.
I was so ready to have my oldest, who’s starting 5th grade, get back into school. I was all ready mentally, and now it feels so weird that he’s got another week off. I also wouldn’t be surprised if he’ll have to go a couple extra days at the end of the year to make up for this delayed start. Of course, he’s thrilled to have a few more days of summer left!
On a different note, I’ve been very busy, writing away. August has been my most profitably month since I began freelance writing. It’s so motivational and makes me want to earn even more next month. But it has taken away some of the time I’ve had to devote to this site.. so I’m going to create a set schedule for my personal blogs so that there is at least one new post a week. It will take me a bit to iron it out, but that is my goal!
Finally, I want to toot my own horn and tell you that I’ve lost 20 lbs! Yeah, that’s not a whole lot, and I’ve got a long way to go, but 20 lbs really makes a difference in the way I feel and the way my clothes fit. I’ve been able to wear a few pairs of crop pants I havent been able to wear in 2 years! I’ve resolved that I’ll never be really skinny, and I’m fine with that.. but if I can lose 50 lbs, I’d be very very happy!
I’m giving myself a makeover and this is just one of the things I’m working on. I’ve been in a depression for quite a while and now it’s time to reinvent myself! I’m on the pathway to happiness!! And it’s working because I’m feeling so much better (With a little help from my little swallowable friends! LOL!)
So that’s my update! What’s been going on with all you guys? Anyone have any trouble with Irene? I hope everyone is safe and sound!

Some Simple Dorm Room Cooking

I know that I could get in a lot of trouble for it, but I snuck a George Forman grill into my dorm room. It was actually one of the things that I wasn’t supposed to bring into a dorm. They even specifically tell us not to include it, but I wanted to regardless. I’ve made some really great meals with it and I really can’t wait to make even more on it in my dorm room. I already let my roommate know to not tell anyone else about it, so I think that we’ll be fine.
I’ve been looking up some simple recipes that you can make on the grill and while I was doing that a few nights ago, I ran across the site GETCLEARwirelessinternet.com. I looked through it some and passed it onto my mom because she could really use a new home internet provider.
I think that I’ve already got a pretty good dorm room cooking start. I made some hamburgers for my suitemates and I, which was a pretty big hit. There’s nothing like free food to get on someone’s good side.

A Picture Of My New Hair Cut!
As promised, I got a couple pictures of my new haircut… though it’s really not that new anymore! Sorry I’ve been slacking on the posts over here. I’ve been busy writing away to make money to pay our bills, taking the boys to the library, and trying to keep the house clean. I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but I’m kinda looking forward to the summer ending, the cooler weather, and my oldest going back to school. Fall is my favorite time of the year!
Okay, here’s my pics… not to bad for being taken by a 10 yr old with a cell phone! 
I’m trying to decide which one I like best and then update all my profile pictures that I have around my websites, message boards, etc.. to a new picture! Which one do you think is better?

Having A Great Summer!
Hey guys!
Well, I’d say we are about halfway through summer. My son has his last day of “extended school year,” a.k.a. summer school, tomorrow. And he goes into 5th grade in 5 weeks!
It’s been really hot here in New England, many days we stay inside with the cool air conditioning. But when we are outside, we spend most of the time in the shade or in the 3 foot deep kiddie pool. Yes, even I get into it! LOL!

Once a week we walk down to the library. I’ve read the complete Twilight series and now can’t wait until Breaking Dawn Part 1 comes out! I’m more obsessed with Twilight than ever. The books have so much more in them, provides so much more depth to the characters. Now I need to get the new Guide that is available! And, I need to decide what to read next!
I haven’t been doing much shopping but I’ve been given a task for the week. I need to get a VGA cable for the computer. I’m not sure why we need it, but hubby said we do! He told me the best place to look online is www.Optimization-World.com. He knows more about that stuff than I do, so I’ll take his word for it! He wants me to look around to see if I can find a better price for VGA cables, but so far I haven’t. I might not look anywhere else and just buy them right from this Optimized Cable Company website.
Let’s see… what else is going on? Oh, yes, I previously posted about how I cut my own hair, and I’ve been asked several times to post pictures. I will, once I get a decent picture! LOL! I’m not very photogenic.
It’s almost the end of the month and I’m rushing to get all my posts in over at my Freelance Transcriptionist Road website for the July Ultimate Blog Challenge. I’d like to make it through this time! This is my 3rd, I think, time doing it and I have yet to finish. 31 posts in 31 days sounds easy, but it isn’t. I have other work to do too! LOL!
